Why Upcycle Furniture?

Upcycling furniture gives a new lease of life to vintage furniture that may have been forgotten about or become useless. Upcycling furniture is having its moment at the minute as it is becoming more and more fashionable to fill your home with classic and unique pieces. Furniture may have become old and timeworn, but Revived and Restored want to continue the stories and memories of these precious pieces by upcycling them.

So, why does upcycling appeal?

1. Uniqueness - After upcycling a piece of furniture, it is pretty much guaranteed that no one out there will have the same piece of furniture as you. Upcycling creates only one of its kind.

2. History - Not only does upcycling preserve a piece of historical furniture, the process of upcycling is historical. In the past, furniture was not thrown away but reused, revived and restored to withstand, it was not a thing back then to buy new furniture twice in one lifetime as it is now.

3. Quality - These days, it is hard to find high-quality, affordable furniture compared to once upon a time when the quality of furniture was much better. So, why would you discard and throw away furniture that is of higher stability when you can upcycle it?

4. Environment - It is an obvious factor that upcycling is good for the environment. ‘The average household in the UK produces more than a tonne of waste each year. Put together, this comes to a total of 31 million tonnes per year’! As a country, we are producing more and more waste each year, and upcycling helps to put a stop to this. It is much better to upcycle rather than dispose of furniture that creates landfill which is ruining our beautiful planet.
