Upcycled Furniture -Customer success stories

As a furniture upcycling business, we take great pride in helping our customers transform their old and preloved furniture into beautiful, unique pieces they can proudly display in their homes. We would like to share some customer success stories and testimonials that highlight the positive impact that our services have had on their furniture and their lives.

One of our recent success stories involved a customer who had inherited a sideboard from their mother. It had sat in their garage for 20 years before calling us for help. Terry and Janette contacted us and asked if it would be possible to upcycle their sideboard, and we asked if they could send us a photo or two. We set to and drew up a quote with the next available schedule slot and sent it via email; they were happy to proceed. The week before the collection, with our purpose-bought horse trailer, which has ample space for extensive furniture collections near the time of their collection, we notified them of a day and time to suit them and us—our horse trailer for collection and deliveries below.

When we arrived, it was apparent the vintage sideboard had sentimental value and could tell a tale or two if it could speak; however, it also desperately needed a makeover. Armed with our colour charts, we worked with them to develop a design that would honour the sideboards' heritage while giving it a modern, updated look, which we colour-matched to their brand-new kitchen. We cleaned and sanded down the old finish and added a beautifully clean, sleek painted finish and a new light oak varnish top after lots of boring stuff I needed to mention here. This stunning sideboard below blended old-world charm with contemporary style, and our customers were thrilled with the transformation.

Here is what they said 'Father and daughter, Mike and Melanie, at Revived and Restored have restored the old sideboard, which had been in our garage for more than 20 years, back into use. We are thrilled with the outcome thanks to the loving care and expertise they have devoted to this project. Nothing was too much trouble, and all at a very reasonable price. Highly recommended.' Terry messaged me personally to say Janette was very emotional that she was able to have her mum's sideboard with her in their home at last.

Another success story was a customer who purchased a vintage table from Facebook marketplace but needed help to make it work in their modern, minimalist kitchen. We suggested painting the legs black, and she wanted the teak top restored to its former glory, but the colour to compliment her new kitchen worktops.

Lesley said, 'Melanie and Mike restored an old table for me which I'd picked up from Facebook marketplace. You could tell that it had been well used over the years, and the legs and tabletop needed some TLC. Mike and Melanie used their magic, and the table now looks fabulous! We use it on a daily basis and the colours are a perfect match in my dining area. I love it! Thank you both!'

Lesley returned for more when she purchased a cocktail cabinet from marketplace once again. It was in a sorry state of affairs; a pane of glass was smashed and had nibble marks on the bottom by her pet bunny. We suggested painting the exterior sleek black to give a timeless classic finish and sitting it in any room or her house as she was on the move. As the glass cabinet was Art Deco in style originally, we explored lots of papers and came up with contemporary Art Deco paper with a lustre of gold on the pattern; we carefully matched the gold from the paper we had added to the back of the cabinet and added small element the gold to give a glamorous chic on a tiny element of the black paint. It can showcase her favourite glasses and bottles of the fun stuff in style.

At Revived and Restored, we're always thrilled to help our customers bring their upcycling dreams to life. We had the pleasure of working with a customer who found us on Pinterest and reached out to us for help transforming a chest of drawers into a bathroom vanity. This customer had been searching for a unique and stylish way to update their bathroom, and after scrolling through Pinterest for inspiration, they stumbled upon our page. They were immediately drawn to the idea of repurposing an old chest of drawers into a vanity and reached out to us for help finding the perfect piece. We worked closely with our customers to find a vintage chest of drawers that fit their style. Once we collected the piece, we got to work transforming it into a beautiful and functional bathroom vanity with a new quartz top, basin, waste and metal trap. Gemma opted for wall-mounted taps, which she had sourced; usually, we would add them to our custom-built vanities.

Here is what Gemma wrote 'I couldn't be happier with our bathroom vanity unit; after searching for such a long time and not being able to find the right style or size to fit our bathroom, I came across Revived and Restored on Pinterest. After contacting Melanie and explaining what we were after, she came up with suggestions and found a perfect unit to transform, and what a transformation it is. I couldn't recommend Revived and Restored more, right from the start of the process to having the unit delivered Melanie and Mike have been wonderful, thank you both so much.'
